The big question...

On May 10th I have a very important appointment with my docs.
Very important.
VERY important....
And lately I've been thinking about one main question.... and to some it is kind of silly. But here it is: How much should I let God and how much should I let science? It's a bit of a debate. Some say, it's all up to GOD. Some say, God invented science. Needless to say, I've got a lot to pray about between now and the 10th.
So is there a debate?
Do I just let God or do I let science?
Or does science help God?
Discuss if you dare.

Ya planning to swim to Ireland?
Do you walk to work?

I believe God gives us the desires of His heart and he will fill them. The question *might* be did God give you the desire to have children, be a parent, or care for children?

I've also found that usually the desire isn't fulfilled until we cease striving to *make* it happen.

I only found my wife after I stopped trying to find her.

Psalm 46:10 NASB: "Cease striving and know that I am God." (Most know this as "Be still" or "Keep silent.")

I think you know how I feel about it!

Science doesn't always work; and it certainly isn't outside of God's purview. God is sovereign over your body and over science. You prayerfully explore everything that looks like an open door. If He's opening it, it'll work. If you have the means to let science give it a try, go for it.

Here's my 2 cents for what it's worth . . . I strongly believe that God created us in His image. He created our amazing brains and gave us abilities to use for his glory. He also gave us a free will . . . therefore we are able to use his gifts/abilities for good or not. When it comes to modern medicine and science. . . I believe that God uses science to achieve some of his purposes. He gave these scientist the abilities to help people. Now, some use their gifts not for good. As long as what drs. suggest to you does not destroy life or contradict what the Bible says, I would believe it is okay. I have ethical issues with destroying embryos, for example b/c I believe all life is valuable. Search your heart and the Bible. If something scientific doesn't contradict the Bible, I think it is okay. I also belive, like Bill, that God wants you to have the desires of your heart. He just may not grant you these things in a traditional way. I know so many wonderful stories of folks who've had children via IVF as well as adoption. They're all so happy. God will give you children, just not sure how! All I know is, once you have the children you desire, no matter how you had them, your pain will diminish!!!!! I'm praying for you!!!! Luv, Paula

I have struggled with this, also. I believe God will speak to us when we seek Him and pray for His direction. I know my friends and family have thought that I was "crazy" for waiting to use medical intervention to try and have a baby but I know in my heart that I just did not have a peace at that time about seeking outside help. I will pray that God will lead you and direct you. I pray that He will give you a peace about which direction you should choose.
